Harold Edward Searles, Jr.

Funeral services for Harold E. Searles Jr., 82, of Pine Island, Minnesota will be at 11:00am on Friday, October 14, 2011 at Christ Lutheran Church in Byron, Minnesota.Burial will be at the Byron Cemetery.Visitation will be from 5:00 8:00pm on Thursday, October 13, 2011 at Christ Lutheran Church and also one hour prior to the service Friday at the church. Harold Edward Searles Jr. was born on May 14, 1929 in Rochester, Minnesota to Harold and Hannah (Feil) Searles Sr.Harold died on October 9, 2011 at the Pine Haven Care Center in Pine Island. Harold graduated from Byron High School and attended the Agricultural School at the University of Minnesota.He served in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict from 1950 1954.On December 26, 1958, he married Virginia Hasley in Rochester.The couple farmed in the Byron area for many years and moved to Pine Island in 2006.Harold was a member of Christ Lutheran Churchandthe American Legion #119.Harold served as a 4-H Leader and was a member of the AMPI Board, Olmsted Soil Conservation Board and the Minnesota Plowing Association.Harold enjoyed plowing, fishing, blade sharpening and lawn mowing. Survivors include his wife, Virginia of Pine Island, Minnesota; one daughter, Katherine (Richard) Senst of Greensburg, Kansas; two sons, Steve (Vicki) Searles of Fredricksburg, Iowa and Todd Searles of Arlington, Minnesota; three grandchildren; one sister, Dolores Holland of Rochester, Minnesota and one brother, Jerry Searles of Plainview, Minnesota.He was preceded in death by his parents and one son, Chris. In lieu of flowers memorials can be dircted to Christ Lutheran Church or Pine Haven Care Center.
