Rochester- A Celebration Of Life for Harlen Fiek, age 82 who passed away at his daughter's home after a 1 week illness, will be held 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, May 12, 2010 at Autumn Ridge Church, 3611 Salem Rd. S.W. with Pastor C. John Steer officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Prairie Cemetery. Visitation will be on Tuesday evening, May 11th, 2010 from 5:00 PM-8:00 P.M will be at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Homes. Memorials in lieu of flowers are requested to Autumn Ridge Church or to the Veterans Honor Flight.Harlen Francis Fiek was born on July 30, 1927 to Francis and Grace Fiek in Burbank, Ca. He went to school in Wabasha and Rochester, Northwestern College and a printing trade School in Minneapolis, after completing 3 years in the Navy. He married Alma (Betty) Anderson at the Evangelical Free Church in Freedhem, MN.Harlen worked for printing firms in Fargo, ND, St Paul, MN. Moline Il. And Rochester. He retired from Pace Dairy in 1989. He was a member of 1st Baptist (Autumn Ridge) Church for 42 years. Harlen enjoyed music. He played trombone in the Navy and Chatfield Brass Band and he also played Piano. He sang in Church Choirs, quartets and in the Rochester Male Chorus. He was also a member of the Rochester Wood Carvers. Harlen is survived by his wife Betty, of almost 60 years; three sons, Rodney Fiek of Rochester, MN, Jay Fiek (Kim Macken)of Rochester, MN, and Terance Fiek (Renae) of Dalton, GA; one daughter, Charmaine Burkhard (Michael) of Rochester, MN; grandchildren, Nicholas, Judd, Briana, Jeremiah, Marcus, Reta, Gabriel, Isaac, Kallie, Samantha, Tayler and Steven; great grandchildren, Amber, Caleb, Sabrina and Hailey; and two brothers, Dale and Dennis Fiek(Rusty) both of Rochester. He was preceded in death by his parents.
