Funeral services for Gwendolyn P. Edwards, 93, of Rochester will be at 1:00pm on Friday, October 23, 2015 at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Homes.Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery. Gwendolyn Prudence Dornack was born on January 20, 1922 in Rochester to Alfred and Mary (Campbell) Dornack.She died on October 18, 2015 at Golden Living West. Gwendolyn graduated from Rochester High School in 1940 and attended Rochester Area Votech.She married Donald W. Behnken and was later divorced.She later married Arnold S. Edwards on August 7, 1965.She worked for the Kahler Corporation from 1958-1962 and later for Rochester Methodist Hospital as an Assistant Chef, retiring in 1981. Gwendolyn was a Channel One Volunteer and helped with the Red Cross during the flood of 1978.During WWII, she traveled to Virginia, Rhode Island, Maine, California and Canada.She enjoyed reading, knitting, fishing on the Mississippi River, baking Carrot Cake, making jelly and geneology. She was a member of Peace United Church of Christ, Eagles Club and was the oldest living member of the Ladies Auxillary of the VFW. Survivors include two daughters, Cindy (Mike) Karau and Sharon Cooke, both of Rochester; one son, Steve (LuAnn) Behnken of Rochester; eight grandchildren, Brandon Behnken, Marissa Boxall, Katie Puaauli, Camyrn Behnken, Lisa Cooke, Elizabeth Cooke, Michelle Karau-Baker and Christa Wiggs; twelve great grandchildren; one sister, Rose Sievers of Rochester.She was preceded in death by her parents, spouse, one son, Jeffrey S. Behnken and one granddaughter, Mandy Behnken-Muench. Memorials are suggested to the Ronald McDonald House or the Eagles Cancer Telethon.
