Gregg S. K. Orwoll passed away on Tuesday, August 20, 2013, at his home in Rochester, Minnesota. Gregg was born on March 23, 1926 in Austin, Minnesota to Gilbert M. and Kleonora (Kleven) Orwoll. Gregg attended Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois graduating with the class of 1950.He then obtained his Juris Doctorate from the University of Minnesota Law School in 1953. Gregg married Laverne M. Flentie on September 15, 1951 in Park Ridge, Illinois. He was employed at the Dorsey Whitney law firm in Minneapolis until 1960 when his family moved to Rochester. Gregg became the Clinics General Counsel in 1963 until his first retirement in 1991.Gregg then worked in the development department and the emeritus office until his final retirement in 1994.After leaving Mayo, Gregg worked at his son Kims law office in Rochester. During law school and after he worked for Cartan Tours as a travel escort. Greggs favorite place to be with family was the cabin on Bay Lakes Echo Bay, located near Garrison, Minnesota.Gregg especially enjoyed the 4th of July, which was spent watching the glorious fireworks show put on by his sons over the lakes north shore near Ruttgers Resort. Gregg was a member of Zumbro Lutheran church since moving to Rochester in 1960. He is survived by his wife of 61 years Laverne; his five children, Kimball (Kathleen) Orwoll of Rochester, Minnesota, Kent (Linda) Orwoll of Chaska, Minnesota, Vikki (Scott) Dalquist of Rochester, Minnesota, Tristen (Steve) Lindemann of Minneapolis, Minnesota, and Erik (Susan) Orwoll of Phoenix, Arizona; his grandchildren, Kaitlyn Orwoll, Caroline Orwoll, Gianna and Max Lindemann, and Samantha Orwoll. He was preceded in death by his parents Gilbert and Kleonora Orwoll, and his sister, Vivikka (Luther) Mason, his niece and nephew Tadd and Kristy. There will be a funeral service on Friday, August 23, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Zumbro Lutheran Church (624 3rd Avenue SW).Visitation will be Thursday, August 22, 2013 from 5:00 p.m. 8:00 p.m. at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Homes and one hour prior to the service on Friday at the church.Burial will be at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
