Grace Hallman, most recently of Rochester, MN died Wednesday, June 26, at Cottagewood Senior Community. Grace was born in Sunbury, PA, August 5, 1915. and moved to Williamsport, PA, in 1943, where she became active in the First Evangelical United Brethren Church as a childrens Sunday School teacher, choir member, and member of the Womens Missionary group.Grace loved music, and enjoyed singing as well as playing the violin and piano.She also enjoyed gardening, flower arranging, and crocheting.She and her late husband enjoyed walking in the woods looking for wildflowers and other plants to use in creating the lovely terrariums which many of her friends received as gifts; and her children and grandchildren have all been recipients of her beautiful afghans. After moving to Rochester In 2000 from her beloved Pennsylvania, she became a resident of Madonna Meadows and Cottagewood senior living facilities, where she continued to find great pleasure in corresponding with family and friends, typing rapidly and accurately on an old manual typewriter.The sound of her typewriter and her lovely singing voice could often be heard in the halls of her residences. Graces survivors include daughter and son-in-law, Caroline and Wesley Fergusson, Glen Allen, VA; daughter-in-law, Jane Hallman, Rochester; grandchildren, Lee Payne, Matthew (Nita Khandelwal) Hallman, Stephen (Carrie) Hallman, Melanie (Nathan) Herrington and great-grandson Luke Herrington. She was preceded in death by her sister, Ruth; husband, Horace, and son, Horace Hallman, Jr. A memorial service will be held, Wednesday, July 2, at 10:30 am at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Home.A second service and burial will be July 11 in Pennsylvania. Memorials are preferred to Cottagewood Senior Community or Madonna Meadows Senior Living.
