Gordon S. Reeve, 85, of Rochester, passed away Thursday, December 6, 2012 at Samaritan Bethany. Gordon was born January 13, 1927 in Minneapolis to Myron and Alice (Bennett) Reeve. He was a graduate of Rochester High School and several Navy training schools. Gordon was a US Navy veteran, proudly serving his country during WWII, as a Motor Machinist Mate on a LCT landing craft in the Pacific Theater of Operations. After his discharge from the Navy, he worked with his father in Reeve's Drug Store from 1948 until 1960. Gordon then worked at the US Postal Service, retiring in 1987 after 24 years. Gordon married Lavonne D. Walters in 1947 in Dodge Center, MN and she precedes him in death. Gordon then married Inez (Hendrickson) Goetz in 1989 and she also precedes him in death. Gordon was a member of Victory Baptist Church, American Legion, VFW and the NARFE National Association of Retired Federal Workers. Gordon is survived by his son, Bradley (Mary) Reeve of Kotzebue, Alaska; daughter, Karen Reeve of Anchorage, Alaska; brother, J. Thomas Reeve of Rochester; two granddaughters, Shelly (nee Reeve)(Clay) Nordlum, Meleri Reeve and great-granddaughter, Naomi. Gordon was preceded in death by his spouses, Lavonne and Inez; parents, Myron and Alice; two brothers and three sisters. A funeral service will be held 1:30pm Thursday, December 13, 2012 at Victory Baptist Church 606 36th Ave. SE, Rochester. Visitation will be held from 12:30pm until time of service. Rev. Darrel Mohler will be officiating with interment at Oakwood Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Victory Baptist Church.
