Gordon "Gordy" J. Vicker

Gordon Gordy J. Vicker, 90, of Rochester, passed away on Sunday, June 26, 2016 at Samaritan Bethany in Rochester. Gordy was born June 9, 1926 in Rock Dell Township, Olmsted County, MN. to Olaf and Hannah (Ellingson) Vicker. He served in the U.S. Army from 1944 to 1946.On June 30, 1947, he married Rebecca McHugh at East St. Olaf Church in Rock Dell.The couple farmed together near Oronoco.Gordy also worked for Kruse Lumber Company until 1974.He then worked for the City of Rochester, MN. retiring in 1989.He was a member of the American Legion, V.F.W. and Eagles.Gordy enjoyed golfing, playing cards and bingo, and fishing. Gordy is survived by his wife, Becky, of Rochester; three daughters, Linda Zacharias of Rochester, MN., Diane (Ronald) Ling of Lakewood, CA., and Cheryl (Jon) Clayton of Naperville, IL.; one sister, Marlene Paulson of Rochester, MN.; eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Anetta Phelps and Alice Kurtz. A Funeral Service will be held 11:00AM Friday, July 1, 2016 at Zumbro Lutheran Church, 624 3rd Ave. SW Rochester with Reverend Vern Christopherson officiating.Visitation will be held 4:00-7:00 PM Thursday, June 30, 2016 at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Home, 5421 Royal Place NW, Rochester and one hour prior to the service Friday at the church. Interment with full military honors will be at East St. Olaf Cemetery in Rock Dell Township.
