Glenn Mitchell

Glenn E. Mitchell, 87 of Rochester, MN passed away on Wednesday, January 4, 2017 at Samaritan Bethany. Glenn Emerson Mitchell was born December 14, 1929 to George and Ella (Goldbeck) Mitchell in rural Olmsted County. He went to school through the 8th grade in rural Olmsted County. Glenn was stationed in Germany while enlisted in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He married Grace Riebe on December 18, 1955 in Wykoff, MN. Grace passed away on June 16, 2002. Glenn worked for Marigold Foods and owned Glenns Sinclair Service Station. He built a home on Lake Zumbro. He enjoyed snowmobiling, which he did until the age of 78. Glenn also enjoyed spending time at his cabin, where he would fish and boat, spending time with family. He loved to camp and travel. Glenn was a member of the Zumbro Valley Snowmobile Club, Habitat for Humanity and the Rochester Water Ski Club. Glenn attended Christ United Methodist Church. Glenn is survived by his children, Patricia (Michael) Clausen of Council Bluffs, IA, Carleen (Randy) Anderson of Zumbro Falls, MN, Glenda (Robert) Jurek of Shoreview, MN, Lucinda Mitchell of Rochester, MN and Kelly (William Jr.) Stanton of Hermitage, TN; ten grandchildren, Mitchell, Chad, Joseph, Nicole, Gennifer, William III, Lee, Tanner, Tyler and Cole; eight great-grandchildren; and his siblings, Lowell (Sylvia) Mitchell of Mazeppa, MN, Alice OGroske of Byron, MN and Robert (Joan) Mitchell of Rochester, MN. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Grace; brothers, Richard and Donald; sister, Dorothy; and two infant brothers. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 7, 2017 at Christ United Methodist Church at 11:00 a.m. Visitation will be held from 5:00-8:00 p.m. on Friday, January 6, 2017 at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Homes and one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. Burial will take place at Grandview Memorial Gardens.
