Gitta G. Hamil

Gitta G. Hamil, age 80, of Rochester passed away May 16, 2014 at the Wellington Adult Care in Dodge Center where she had resided. Born March 11, 1934 in Detroit, Michigan the daughter of Karl & Hilda (Gutarker) Gosziniak. She grew up in Grosse Pointe Woods, Michigan graduating from high school in 1952 and the University of Michigan Ann Arbor in 1956 with a Bachelors degree in Business Administration. On June 15, 1956 she married William R. Hamil of Dearborn, Michigan and they moved to Buffalo, NY. She worked in New York for Spencer Kellogg & Sons Inc. In 1962 they moved to Rochester, MN and lived there the rest of her life with exception to the two years that IBM sent them to Germany in 1970-1972. Gitta worked as a Baker at Kellogg Jr High School for 18 years before retiring in 1999. She was a member of Christ Lutheran Church where she was involved in the Altar Society for many years. She also volunteered at Paws and Claws and FISH. Gitta was preceded in death by her husband, Bill, on June 10, 2013. Surviving are her 4 children: Bob Hamil of Conway, Michigan, Steve Hamil of Calumet, MI, Lee Hamil of Wabasha, MN, and Laura Hamil of Rochester. Funeral services will be held 2 PM Friday, May 23, 2014 at Christ Lutheran Church, 2904 20th Street SE Rochester MN with Rev. Scott Schilbe officiating. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will be held 5-7 PM Thursday, May 22, 2014 at Ranfranz & Vine Funeral Homes and again one hour prior to services at the church on Friday. Memorials appreciated to Christ Lutheran Church.
