Gerald Malagrino, Sr., 88, of Rochester, passed away peacefully Tuesday, October 20, 2015 at Shorewood. Gerald was born August 3, 1927 in New York City, grew up in Pokipsy, NY and later moved to Rochester, MN. He served in the US Army in Korea as a Sargent First Class, receiving the commendation medal for meritorious service and the combat infantry badge. On July 26, 1953, he married Philomena Cappello in Newburgh, NY. Mr. Malagrino worked for IBM for 35 years. At the time of his retirement in 1988, he was a project manager. He was a lifetime member of the Elks Lodge, IBM Quarter Century Club, lifetime member of the Society of Certified Manufacturing Engineers, and a member of the Korean War Veterans Club. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Constance (Alan) Meredith of Rochester; son, Gerald Jr., (Ann) of Rochester and 3 grandchildren, Christina (Josh) Chapman, Elizabeth (Andy) Gappa, Danielle Malagrino; 5 great-grandchildren, Andrew, Daniel, Logan, Aubrey and Griffin. He was preceded in death by his parents; 3 sisters and a brother. Visitation will be held 9:00-10:00 a.m. Friday, October 23, 2015 at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Homes, 5421 Royal Place NW., Rochester.
