Gerald (Jerry) Cook, 86, died Tuesday, October 8, 2024, at Edenbrook Nursing Home, where he had been a resident for three weeks. He had fought a long battle with AML and other recent health issues.
Jerry was born March 22, 1938, in Rochester, Minnesota, moving to Spring Valley as an infant, where he grew up. He graduated from Dunwoody College of Technology. He married Ann Urlick on November 28, 1959, and moved to Rochester to begin his career at IBM. After retirement in 1993, he worked for Pemstar for several years. He liked working in his workshop, volunteering for the Sacred Heart Haiti Mission, visiting with friends at the Rochester Athletic Club (RAC), and loved spending time with his family, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and friends.
Jerry is survived by his wife, Ann; daughters, Leann (Brad) Amos and Michelle Cook; grandchildren Nicole (Luke) Lonien and Megan (Randy) Oftedahl; great-granddaughters Elle and Ava Lonien; brothers-in-law, Jim and Larry Urlick; and sister-in-law Marge Urlick. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Myrtle Cook; parents-in-law Leo and Helen Urlick; brothers Eugene and Richard Cook; sisters-in-law, Adonna and Cecelia Cook and Eunice and Virginia Urlick; and brother-in-law, Bill Urlick.
A mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, October 11, 2024 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church with Msgr. Tom Cook officiating at 10:30 a.m. with visitation starting one hour before the service at 9:30 a.m. Burial will be at Oakwood East Cemetery in Rochester, Minnesota.
