ROCHESTER, MINN: Lt. Col. George S. Wilson, 90, passed away peacefully Thursday, May 3, 2012 at Maple Manor Health Care and Rehabilitation Center. George was born September 29, 1921 in Minneapolis, MN to George and Alta (Olson) Wilson. George married Alice Bradach on October 31, 1942 in Midland, TX. He was a retired Lieutenant Colonel from the US Air Force, proudly serving his country during WWII and the Korean Conflict as a bomber pilot. George was a decorated veteran, receiving many medals including the Purple Heart and the Distinguished Flying Cross. After retiring from the military, he spent 17 years at LTV Steel Company in Hoyt Lakes. He was a member of the American Legion and an Eagle Scout. George enjoyed spending his time hunting, fishing and doing wood carving. His main love in life was his family. George is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Alice; sons, George (Cheryl) Wilson III of Rochester, Jon (Julie) Wilson of Elk River, MN; 5 grandchildren, Grant (Lisa) Wilson of Faribault, MN, Jennifer Wilson of Rochester, Heather (Jason) Tripp of Rochester, Jake Wilson of Seattle, WA, Clare (Aaron) Taufen of Maple Grove, MN and 5 great-grandchildren, Trinity, Alesha and Paige Tripp, Grayden Wilson and Easton Taufen. George was preceded in death by his parents and by his brother, Bill. A graveside service will be held at a later date at Forest Hill Cemetery in Aurora, MN.
