ROCHESTER, MINN: George H. Hawley, 97, passed away April 4, 2012, at Maple Manor Health Care and Rehabilitation Center in Rochester. George was born July 21, 1914 in Depew, IA to Albert and Rose (Kiehl) Hawley. George married Beata Melom on July 5, 1936 in Elmore, MN. As a young boy, he lived in Washington and in Pennsylvania but during the depression, the family returned to Iowa.George farmed in Minnesota until 1952. He worked for Westinghouse, helping with the building of Mayo and then the construction of the Domitilla Unit before going to IBM in 1957, working as the grounds supervisor. He retired in 1977. George was a member of Zumbro Lutheran Church for over 55 years. He enjoyed horseshoes, fishing and always loved having a place at the lake to spend with his family, laughing and creating memories. George is survived by his three children, Janice Heusinkveld of Rochester, Glenn Hawley of Midland, TX.; Roy Hawley of Pine Island; 17 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; several great, great-grandchildren; sister, Evelyn (Merlin) Petit of Minneapolis, and brother, Clare (Muriel) Hawley of Rochester. George was preceded in death by his loving wife of 74 years, Beata; his daughter, Joyce Snyder; his sister, Helen; his brother, Bob and by his parents. A Funeral Service will be held 1:00pm Monday, April 9, 2012 at Zumbro Lutheran Church, 624 3rd Ave. SW, Rochester, MN 55902. Visitation will be held from 12:00pm until time of service. The Rev.
