ROCHESTER - Genevieve C. Lageson, 85, passed away with those she loved beside her on Saturday, April 9, 2011 at Madonna Towers Memory Care Unit in Rochester. Genevieve was born at her family home in Dorchester, IA on November 22, 1925 to John and Vernie (Lane) Griffin. She later moved with her family to Waukon, IA. Genevieve married David Lageson on May 29, 1947 in Austin, MN. They later moved to LeRoy, MN and together had five children. Gen later moved to Rochester and worked at St. Marys as a Unit Assistant for many years until retirement. Gen was a woman of strong faith, family, and love. She shared a zeal for life around her in the everyday miracles of birds, flowers, and the beautiful clouds in the sky. Her greatest enjoyment was to spend time with her family and grandchildren. She was proud of her Irish heritage and loved music and dance. Genevieve is survived by four children, Lana (David) Carson, of Rochester, Richard (Laura) Lageson, of St. Louis, MO, Jennifer (Brad) Talmo, of Rochester, and Kristen (John) Chermak, of Inver Grove Heights, MN; grandchildren, Tracy, Bryan, Betsy, Lauren, Christine, Taryn, Christopher, Jacqueline, Micah, Christian, Jesselyn, Jonathan, Rachael, and Stacy; two great grandchildren, Megan and Katey; three siblings, Della Donovan, of Rochester, Jack (Hope) Griffin, of Rochester, and Karen (Dean) Drew, of Waukon, IA. Genevieve is preceded in death by her parents; her ex-husband, Dave; a son, Steven Rainey; and a brother, Gregory.A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 A.M on Friday, April 15, 2011 at Pax Christi Catholic Church, 4135 18th Ave. NW, with Fr. Joe Keefe officiating. Visitation will be from 4-7 P.M. on Thursday, April 14, 2011 with a Rosary at 6:30 p.m. at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Home and an hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will take place at Oakwood Cemetery.The family wishes to extend their thanks for the kindness and care from the staff of Madonna Memory Care. They also wish to extend their gratitude to the Pax Christi staff for all of their visits and prayers.
