A Memorial Service for Garrett G. Steiger, 20, of Rochester, Minnesota will be at 11:00 am on Saturday, July 9, 2011 at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Homes with the Rev. James Filbeck officiating.Visitation will be from 5:00 8:00 pm on Friday, July 8, 2011 at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Homes and also one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Saturday. Garrett Glenn Steiger was born on December 4, 1990 in Rochester, Minnesota to William and Lavonne (Friedrich) Steiger.Garrett died on July 4, 2011 in Zumbro Township as the result of a car accident. Garrett graduated from John Marshall High School in 2009 and Universal Technical Institute in Chicago, Illinois in 2010 in auto-diesel mechanics.Garrett was employed by Rochester Ford. Garrett loved wrestling and had a wrestling career that spanned thirteen years.He wrestled with Rochester Youth Wrestling Association and continued his career with John Marshall. He qualifiedand placed in the state and national meets.Garrett was good with his hands and enjoyed working on cars.There was never a challenge that Garrett wasn't excited about accomplishing.He was always happy, smiling and quick with a funny comeback.Garrett enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Survivors include his parents, William and Lavonne Steiger, both of Rochester, Minnesota; his brother, Keatton Steiger of Rochester, Minnesota; his sister, Jessica (Darree) Clemmer of Minneapolis, Minnesota and his maternal grandmother, Ila Friedrich of Zumbrota, Minnesota.Garrett was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Joe Friedrich; his paternal grandparents, Glenn and Bette Steiger and his uncle, Mike Steiger.
