EXE Frank N. Exe, 87, of Rochester, passed away Thursday, May 10, 2018 at The Mayo Clinic, St. Marys campus. Frank was born February 5, 1931 in Salem, MN to Hilman and Clara (Holt) Exe. He was the eldest of ten children and helped support his family during the Depression. On December 15, 1951, Frank married, LaDonna King. Frank was a veteran of the U.S. Army, proudly serving his country during the Korean War. After he returned from the war, Frank delivered for C.P. Cleaners, along with helping out on various farms. Frank went on to work and retire from IBM after 29 years of service. He was a member of the Byron American Legion and the Rochester Woodcarvers Club. He enjoyed fishing, camping, hunting, woodworking and woodcarving. He had a great interest in weather/storms and could fix about anything. Frank loved Polka Festivals, dancing, and traveling with his wife, LaDonna. He was a kind, hardworking, devoted husband and father. Frank was dedicated, fun loving, talented and a man that was always there for others. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, LaDonna; children, Wayne (Rita) Exe of Rushford, Glenn Exe of Pine Island, Cheryl (Dennis) Ristau of Eau Claire, WI; 6 grandchildren, Angela Lange, Travis Exe, Adam Exe, Kevin (Janay) Exe, Eric (Heisley) Ristau, Nicole (John) Heck; 2 step-grandchildren, Stacy (Gabe) Milene and Brad Stiever; 8 great-grandchildren; 4 step-great-grandchildren; 2 great, great-grandchildren; siblings, DeWayne (Marie) Exe, Audrey Carlson, Vernon (Linda) Exe, Marylin (Francis) Carlson, Doris Mehling and Carol (Lloyd) Carlson. Frank was preceded in death by his daughter-in-law, Terryl Exe and brothers, Ron, Lawrence and Gerald. A funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 16, 2018 at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Homes, 5421 Royal Place NW, Rochester. Visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. until time of the service.
