Frank Angelotti

April 20, 1962 — December 23, 2024

Frank William Angelotti, PhD., passed away Monday. December 23, 2024, after a long illness. He was born April 20, 1962, in Arlington Heights, Illinois, the son of the late Frank R. Angelotti and Jackqueline L. Angelotti (nee Goodwill). Frank grew up in Elk Grove Village, Illinois, and later in Kildeer, Illinois, and attended the University of Illinois in Urbana/Champaign, earning a B.S., an M.S., and a PhD in Computer Science. Frank worked at International Business Machines (IBM) in Rochester, Minnesota, for 25 years.

A well-lived life means serving others, and Frank achieved that and more. Like many individuals given the gift of life, Frank's story encompasses much more than just his birth and death dates. His time was rich with a passion for his wife, Debbie, and his family, along with a profound appreciation for science and nature. A true Renaissance man, Frank frequently reinvented himself in pursuit of truth and happiness.

His love of science was particularly evident while he pursued a Doctorate in Engineering Computer Science. Frank taught computer arithmetic courses at the University of Illinois. His academic career eventually transitioned into private enterprise, focusing on transforming scientific theories into commercial success. He earned numerous patents throughout his career.

Although Frank enjoyed all the trappings of a productive livelihood, he was most passionate about fly fishing and conservation. He was active in Trout Unlimited (TU) at the state and local levels, enjoying many responsibilities within the local chapter over the years, including president. Frank spent many hours on the streams of Southeast Minnesota fishing and helping his local chapter of TU with rehabilitation work on trout streams. His passion for the sport went beyond just fishing. He was interested in the art and history of fly-tying and rod building. He shared his love of fly-tying with many people while teaching community education classes. Frank was a man of many talents. In addition to being a good steward of God's creations, Frank enjoyed woodworking and woodcarving.

I am confident that when Frank stands before the Lord and accounts for his life, Frank will do so unashamedly for how he lived and loved. Knowing Frank, he will ask the Lord if he wants to go fishing.

Frank is survived by his loving wife of 32 years, Debra Adkisson Angelotti, from Rochester, Minnesota, and his mother, Jackie Angelotti, from Pine Island, Minnesota. He will be missed.
