Floyd L. Peterson, age 91 of Oronoco died Wednesday, December 8, 2021 at Seasons Hospice Home. Floyd was born in Goodhue County on November 24, 1930 to John and Annetta (Hillestad) Peterson. He attended country school through 8th grade. After school he went to work on the family farm. Floyd joined the United States Marine Corps after the break out of the Korean War. After returning from the War, Floyd went to work for Marigold Foods in Rochester. On March 11, 1956, Floyd married Arlene Hass in Pleasant Valley. Together they moved to a house in Oronoco and raised their family. Floyd retired from Marigold Foods after 42 years of working the 3-11 shift. Floyd enjoyed spending time outdoors, cutting wood, fishing, golfing, and camping with his family. He also loved to tinker on the house and in the garage. He was a very creative man, always making his own version instead of buying something new. Most of all, Floyd loved to spend time with family and friends. Floyd is survived by his children, Sharon Peterson of Oronoco, Gary Peterson of Hollywood, FL, Steven (MaryAnn) Peterson of Rochester, Richard (Mary) Peterson of Lyle, Jason Peterson of Rochester; seven grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren. Floyd was preceded in death by his wife Arlene, parents, son Robert, and daughter Kay. A Funeral Service will be on Wednesday, December 15, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, 2124 Viola Rd NE Rochester, MN 55906. Visitation will be held Tuesday December 14, 2021 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Home, 5421 Royal Place NW Rochester, MN 55901 and also 1 hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday.
