Floyd Frank Flicker

Rochester- A Memorial Mass will be celebrated for Mr. Floyd F. Flicker, age 87, at 1:00 P.M. Wednesday October 12, 2011 at Church of the Resurrection, 1600 11th Ave. S.E. With Rev. Shawn Haremza officiating.Visitation will be at the church on Wednesday from noon until the time of the Mass. Areception, at the church,will beimmediately following the service. Floyd passed away at his home October 7th, 2011 after being in poor health for some time. Floyd was born July 6, 1924 in Pierz, Mn. To Joseph and Eleanor (Riesgraff) Flicker. After his schooling he lived on the family farm until joining the US Navy.He served during WWII from 1940 to 1942. Following his discharge he worked as a plumber in construction for the US Government in Greenland and Guam.He returned to Minnesota and worked in construction in the Brainerd and St Cloud area.On February 27th 1954 he married Shirley Allord in Little Falls, MN.They moved to Rochester that year and Floyd worked as a plumberat the Mayo Clinic for The Sanitary Company (Himec). He then worked for Rochester Plumbing and Heating about 30 years before becoming a partner and starting the Total Plumbing and Heating Company, from which he later retired. Floyd was a member of Rochester Local #6 Plumbers and Steamfitters Union.He was a member of the Rochester VFW, and Church of the Resurrection.He enjoyed hunting, fishing playing cards and gardening. Floyd is survived by his wife of 57 years, Shirley; Daughters; Deborah Nelson (Danny) of Rochester, MN.Juanita Flicker of Rochester, MN. Lisa Flicker (Stephen Larson) of Harmony, MN and a son Douglas Flicker (Amy Greeley) of Mpls, MN.Grandchildren; Jason Nelson and Michelle Manning and Great Grand childeren; Collin Nelson and Hailey Manning.Brothers; Ardell Flicker (Irene) of Rochester. MN. Leon Flicker (Betty) of Pierz, MN.Sisters Marilyn Schreiner of Pierz, MN. Myrna O'Callahan of Sonoma, Ca.He was preceded in death by his parents and 2 brothers Gerald and Jerome Flicker.
