Evelyn Groves

Evelyn Weygant Groves, 89, passed away Saturday, April 18th, 2015 at Samaritan Bethany Home on 8th. Evelyn was born on June 17th, 1925 in New Windsor, NY to Charles and Belle (Lewis) Weygant. She married George R. Groves on August 31st, 1943 in Newburg, NY. She was an active member of Christ United Methodist Church, where she played hand bells and sang in the choir. Evelyn was a homemaker and volunteered at Rochester Methodist Hospital gift shop for 45 years. Evelyn was a wonderful mother and devoted grandmother. Evelyn and George enjoyed many winters in Daytona Beach, FL and also traveled extensively, with highlights including Japan, Australia, and Greece. Evelyn is survived by her daughters, Gail Groves of Rochester, MN and Sharon (Gary) Anderson of Lincoln, CA; daughter-in-law Lynne Groves of Rochester, MN; grandchildren Lisa (Chris) Durand, Eric (Jenne) Schwarz, Sean Groves, and Bryan Groves; great grandchildren Taylor, Kyle, Maddie, Cassie, and Nate. She was proceeded in death by her parents, spouse, son Jeffrey Groves, and brother George Weygant. A visitation will be held at Samaritan Bethany on 8th on Wednesday April 22nd, 2015 from 2-4pm. A memorial service will be held at 11am on Thursday, April 23rd, 2015 at Christ United Methodist Church in Rochester, MN. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Private interment will be held at Oakwood East Cemetery. Donations in her memory may be made to the American Lung Association.
