Eunice M. Kohlmeyer

Eunice Kohlmeyer, 80, of rural Oronoco, MN, passed away on Wednesday, August 3, 2016 at Seasons Hospice in Rochester, MN. Eunice Martha Mock was born February 27, 1936 in Mankato, MN, to the Rev. Alfred and Mrs. Vivian Mock. She grew up in Rapidan and Wykoff, MN, before moving to Hay Creek, MN, and graduating from Red Wing High School in 1954. Eunice earned her Associate of Arts degree in Education from Concordia College in St. Paul, MN. She married Walter Kohlmeyer on August 19, 1956. Eunice and Walter first lived in Wykoff, MN, where Eunice taught parochial school for the first year of their marriage. They then moved to rural Oronoco and in 1964 they purchased the farm where they lived for the remainder of their lives. Walter was an employee at IBM for many years and passed away in 2006. Eunice was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Oronoco, MN, for over 50 years. She was a long-time choir member and served for several years as the choir director. She also established the church hand bell choir and directed it for over 30 years. Eunice taught piano lessons in her home for many years. In her spare time, she was an avid reader and also liked to travel, sew, and quilt. Eunice is survived by four children, Annette (Paul) Krohg, Ron Kohlmeyer, Angela (Don) Kundert, and Dan (Sally) Kohlmeyer, and six grandchildren, Maren and Erik Krohg, Ryan and Reed Kohlmeyer, and Amanda and Brittany Kundert. She is also survived by one sister, Deborah, and two brothers, David and Herbert. In addition to her husband, Eunice was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Dorothy and Lois, and two brothers,Alfred and Phillip. The funeral service for Eunice Kohlmeyer will be held on Tuesday, August 9 at 11:00 a.m. at Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church in Oronoco, MN. Visitation will take place from 4 to 7 p.m. on Monday, August 8 at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Home and one hour prior to the funeral at the church. Burial will take place at the Oronoco Cemetery. Memorials are preferred to WELS Missions or to Seasons Hospice.
