Eugene "Gene" Edward Campbell

Funeral services for Eugene Gene E. Campbell, 80, of Spring Park, MN (formerly of Rochester, MN) will be at 10:30am on Saturday, April 20, 2013 at Autumn Ridge Church, 3611 Salem Rd SW, Rochester, with the Rev. Dan Farm officiating.Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Park in Minneapolis, MN.Visitation will be one hour prior to the service Saturday at the church. Eugene Edward Campbell was born on August 17, 1932 in Minneapolis, MN to Wallace and Eva (Moffatt) Campbell.He died on April 8, 2013 at Lake Minnetonka Shores in Spring Park, MN. Gene graduated from the University of Minnesota and played hockey there for 3 years.He married Barbara Ware on June 25, 1955 in Minneapolis, MN and went on to play hockey in the 1956 Olympics. In 1960 they moved to Rochester where Gene worked in administration in health care and later worked for Carlson Companies.Gene was a long-time member of Autumn Ridge Church and was the hockey coach at Lourdes High School from 1982-1996. Survivors include his son, Daniel W. Campbell of Magnolia, TX; grandchildren, Nathan and Luke Campbell and Tatum and Ellie Larsen and 1 sister, Jeanette (Ralph) Pugh of Maple Lake, MN.He was preceded in death by his parents, spouse, Barbara and 2 daughters, Nancy and Kristin. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be directed to the Gene Campbell Scholarship at Lourdes High School.
