Eugene C. Searles

Praise to our dear Lord Jesus Christ for taking Eugene C. Searles into his loving kingdom on May 31, 2017. Gene was born April 11, 1928 to Tracy and Syvilla Searles and graduated from Rochester High School in 1947. On September 24, 1949 he married the love of his life Elaine E. Young in Winona Minnesota. Elaine passed away March 23, 2016. From their wedding day until the very end they did everything together and their 66 year marriage was a union admired by all. Genes career began as an electrician followed by 30 years of service to IBM. He joined Redeemer Lutheran Church of Rochester in 1949 and remained a faithful member for 68 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 sisters, 1 brother, his beloved wife Elaine and son Jeffrey. He is survived by his daughter Jacquelyn (Robert) Bonsi, brother Edward D. Searles, daughter-in-law Kathy Searles, grandchildren Delana, Jon, T.J. and Becky, great- grandchildren Emma, Briana and Dylan and numerous nieces and nephews. He loved and was loved by many. While it was always family first, Gene had many other interests including golf and fishing (his favorite) and every do it yourself project that came his way. At his request his remains will be cremated and placed next to Elaine and Jeff with a private graveside burial. The best way to honor his life would be a kind thought or remembrance when casting a fishing line or swinging a golf club. Memorials are suggested to Seasons Hospice or Redeemer Lutheran Church.
