Eugene Behrens

Eugene Edward Behrens, also known as Gene or Geno. Gene died surrounded by family at Seasons Hospice on June 13, 2018 at age 86. Gene was born in Hansell, Iowa on April 29th, 1932. Gene graduated from Hansell High School where he was a standout athlete playing both basketball and baseball. Gene went on to earn a scholarship to Upper Iowa University, Fayette, Iowa, where he played basketball. Gene served in the military in the army artillery branch stationed in Puerto Rico. Gene was employed by IBM, Rochester, where he retired after 30 years. Gene is survived by the mother of his children, Pat Behrens, adult children, Terri Behrens Feldman (John), Mike Behrens (Yna), Tom Behrens (Beth), Mark Behrens, Matt Behrens. Grandchildren, Tiarr Dahlen (Chris), Danielle Nunes (Cody), Chelsie Behrens (Joey), Ali Behrens, Sam Behrens, Brianna Behrens, Marissa Behrens. Great Grandchildren, Maddix, Brooklyn, Paisley, Lakyn, Merrik and Kalan. Gene was preceded in death by his wife, Norma Larson. Gene enjoyed playing golf, fishing, parades, landscaping around his homes, family gatherings, especially with Marcia's music. Gene will be missed by his family, friends and many who came to know him. Gene's family would like to thank Tina, Lexie his PA and the other caregivers who came to his home and gave him such good care. Also, the staff at Seasons Hospice who helped him at the end of his journey. A Celebration of Gene's life will be held at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Home Monday, June 18, 2018 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. A private service and burial will be at a later date.
