Esther Mae Scharkey

ROCHESTER, MINN:Esther Mae Scharkey, 95, died peacefully at her home on Monday, June 29, 2015. Esther Mae Hennie was born June 18, 1920 to William and Elnora (Scott) Hennie in Kasson, MN. She graduated from Pine Island High School in 1937. Esther married Hugo Scharkey on March 29, 1939 in Kasson, MN. The couple farmed in the Pine Island area for many years. She was a volunteer for the Rochester Methodist Hospital Auxiliary. Esther taught Sunday School for the American Sunday School Union. She was active in 4-H and an alumni member. Esther was a devote christian and did God's work in many ways. Esther is survived by her four children, Diane (Ed) Cooper, Saskatoon, SK, CA, LeRoy (Judie) Scharkey, Rochester, MN, Myron (Carole) Scharkey, Crooks, SD, and Jeanette (Randy) Graham, Twin Falls, ID; eight grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Esther was preceded in death by her parents, husband Hugo, two brothers and a sister. A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 2, 2015 at Oasis Baptist Church. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. on Wednesday, July 1, 2015 at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Home and one hour before the service at the church. Burial will be at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, July 2, 2015 at Pine Island Cemetery, Pine Island, MN.
