Emmett L. Burdick

ROCHESTER, MINN: Emmett L. Burdick, 91, of Rochester, passed away March 20, 2011. He was born March 22, 1919 in Ontario, WI to Chesnia and Beulah (Van Duzee) Burdick. Emmett graduated from Eyota High School. On August 4, 1943 Emmett married Leila Walters in Elgin, MN. He was a veteran of the US Army serving during WWII, worked at Marigold for 14 years making ice cream cakes and retired from IBM after 27 years of service. Emmett was a member of Grace Lutheran Church. Emmett enjoyed gardening and sitting around campfires but his main love in life was his family. He was a good-hearted, proud man. Emmett is survived by his sons, LaVern (Sandy) and Dennis (Sue), both of Rochester, and Dean (Janet) of Chanhassen, MN; 15 grandchildren, and 23 great-grandchildren. Emmett was preceded in death by his loving wife, Leila; by his son, LaRoy, and by his brother, Kenneth. Funeral services will be held 2:00pm Thursday, March 24, 2011 at Grace Lutheran Church 800 East Silver Lake Dr. NE, Rochester, MN 55906. Visitation will be held 5:00-8:00pm Wednesday, March 23, 2011 at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Homes 5421 Royal Place NW, Rochester and one hour prior to the service at church.
