Emma Fugarino, 88, formerly of Menomonee Falls, WI and most recently of Rochester, passed away on October 23, 2017 in her home. Emma was born in Roswell, New Mexico on August 29, 1929 to Alexandria and Louis B. Montanez. She graduated from Roswell High School and attended post-secondary for business and was a stenographer. She married John Fugarino of Milwaukee, WI on April 25, 1956, and together they had four children. Emma enjoyed working at Menomonee Falls East High School as a teacher's aide for several years after her children were all in school. Emma had a passion for writing, playing and collecting music. She was an advocate for education and inspired her children to go on to college. She was independent, confident, well-educated and encouraged her children and others to do their best and be their best. Emma loved and supported her children and grandchildren in everything they wanted to pursue. Emma was a devout catholic all her life. Emma is survived by her children, Sandra (Daniel) Hannes of Oswego, IL, Terri Lynn (Tony) Enquist of Rochester, MN, John (Katherine Gloros) Fugarino of Lowell, MA, Thomas (David Tygaard) Fugarino of Long Beach, CA; 5 grandchildren, Cassandra (Tony) Narr, Evan Enquist, Elisa (Matthew Steck) Hannes, Kassianni Fugarino, Sophia Fugarino; 5 great-grandchildren, Stella, Tristan, Parker, Graham, Hazel; brother, Alex Montanez and sisters, Helen Montanez, Eva Taylor and Patricia Facio. Emma was preceded in death by her sisters, Vera Veilleux and Ester Charette. A private memorial mass will be held on October 26, 2017 at the Church of the Resurrection, 1600 11th Ave. SE, Rochester, MN. Interment will be held at Oakwood Cemetery.
