Emily "Emogene" E. Balloy, age 98, of Rochester, died on Sunday, February 25, 2018, at Madonna Towers in Rochester. The funeral service will be at 11:00 am on Friday, March 2, 2018, at Peace United Church of Christ with Reverend Paul Bauch officiating. The visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. The burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Rochester. Emily Eugenia Broom was born on August 10, 1919, in Waldron, MI, to Orla and Myrtie (Bradley) Broom. In 1936, she graduated from Waldron High School in Waldron, MI and in May of 1939 graduated from Mercy School of Nursing as a registered nurse in Toledo, OH. On June 29, 1940, she married Michael "Mike" Balloy in Waldron, MI. In 1945, they moved to Rochester on V.J. Day. They were married for 52 years, before Mike died September 25, 1992. Emily worked as a private duty nurse and then for Rochester Methodist Hospital for 24 years until her retirement in 1982. Emily was very hard working. She excelled at needle point and as a card player. She enjoyed embroidery, knitting, gardening, traveling, and was an extensive reader of all books. Emily was an active member of Peace United Church of Christ in Rochester and past member of First Christian Disciples of Christ Church where she was a deaconess. Emily is survived by her children, Daniel (Mary) Balloy of Plymouth, Patricia Eudy of Conroe, TX and Michael Balloy of Rochester; nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Emily was preceded in death by her husband, Mike and six sisters. The family sincerely appreciates the care she received at Madonna Towers, Madonna Meadows and the Mayo Clinic including Mayo Clinic Hospice.
