Elwood "Woody" W. Paulson, 83, of Rochester, died Wednesday, December 1, 2010 at St. Marys Hospital. Woody donated his body to the University of Minnesota.Elwood Warren Paulson was born May 18, 1927 in Shakopee, MN to Walter and Susie (Brown) Paulson. He served in the US Navy from 1944 to 1948. He married Bette Lou Evjen on May 23, 1948 in Rochester. In 1950, he started working for the Post Office, was a letter carrier for 35 years, and a home builder during the 1960's. He retired in 1987. He owned his own lawn care service for 15 years. He enjoyed boating, camping, hunting and fishing. He was a a member of the American Legion, The Eagles Club, and the VFW.Woody is survived by two sons, Larry (Debbie) and Rick (Christie), both of Rochester; four grandchildren, Alana (Matt) Moran, Brenna Paulson, Matthew (Laura) Paulson and Thomas (Amber) Paulson; and three great grandchildren, Ryan and Nick Moran, and Caedyn Paulson. He was preceded in death by his wife, Bette Lou in 2008; his parents; four brothers; and one sister.A memorial service will be held on Monday, December 6, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Homes' Chapel with the Reverend Bruce Buller officiating. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service on Monday at the funeral home. Military honors will be provided by the American Legion Post #92. Memorials are suggested to the Eagle's Cancer Telethon.
