Funeral services for Elmer D. Tate, 80, of Rochester will be at 11:00am on Saturday, July 15, 2017 at Bethel Lutheran Church with the Rev. Dr. Norman Wahl officiating. Burial will be at 2:00pm at the United Lutheran Cemetery in Zumbrota. Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00pm on Friday, July 14, 2017 at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Home and also one hour prior to the service at the church. Elmer Donald Tate was born on August 5, 1936 in Fargo, ND to Elmer and Elsie (Hausmann) Tate. He died on July 10, 2017 at the Seasons Hospice Cottage in Rochester. Elmer grew up and graduated from High School in Colgate, ND. He served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict from 1956-1959. He worked for Northern Improvement Construction in Fargo and later drove semi-truck for International Transport in Rochester. On July 17, 1965, he married Eyvonn Merseth at the United Lutheran Church in Zumbrota. Also in 1965 he started with the City of Rochester Street Department, and retired in 2002. Elmer was a member of the Rochester Fraternal Order of Eagles #2228 for 45 years. He enjoyed fishing and hunting, playing cards, and loved sports. He also enjoyed spending time with his family and friends at the Lucky Acres Campground on Lake Miltona near Alexandria. Survivors include his wife, Eyvonn Tate of Rochester; one son, Donnie Tate of St. Croix Falls, WI; three grandchildren, Jocelyn, Isaac and Isaiah Tate, of St. Croix Falls, WI; one brother, Wallace (Jane) Tate of Apache Junction, AZ; one sister, Betty (Dennis) Steele of Bismarck, ND and nieces and nephews.
