Ellsworth (Al) Starks Ellingson was born on July 24, 1934, to parents Sanford and Ella (Starks) Ellingson. Ellsworth grew up as a farm boy in Dexter, Minnesota and later becoming a turkey farmer in Byron and Pine Island. After attending diesel mechanic school in Chicago, Ellsworth worked for Frazier Construction and Rochester Sand and Gravel Construction.
Al married the love of his life Anna Lemmer on July 4, 1959, in Minnieska, Minnesota. He was a member of Pax Christi, the Eagles Club, and the 49 Union. He enjoyed old cars, car shows, bowling, country music, dancing, camping, cruises, playing cards, and family car trips after church on Sundays. Many would come to Al's Garage for repairs from him - he was a jack-of-all-trades. He especially loved gatherings with family and friends on his patio.
Al was married to the most beautiful girl in the world for 65 years, and together they raised five lovely children. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandpa, great-grandpa, and he could never have enough friends. His love and happiness gave us all strength. He always bragged he was a millionaire because of his wife, family, and friends.
Al is preceded in death by his parents, Sanford and Ella Ellingson, and two brothers, Stuart and Marvin Ellingson.
Al is survived by his wife, Anna Ellingson; children Teresa (Paul) Freund, Tom Ellingson, Cathy Ellingson, Linda (Dan) Ellingson, Jean (Don) Suelter; grandchildren Ryan (Megan) Ellingson-Zaic, Chase (Kaylie) Ellingson, Traci (Curt) Ellingson, Tricia (Mike) Freund, Taylor (Rachel) Freund; and great-grandchildren Noelle, Noah Eleanor, Lillian, and Aiden.
