Ellen Marie Hunt, 77, of Cannon Falls, MN passed away on Saturday, November 24, 2018 at The Mayo Clinic, St. Marys campus. Ellen was born May 6, 1941 in Austin, MN to I. Orlando and Aleta (Swenson) Grose. She was a 1959 graduate of Albert Lea High School. After high school, Ellen met Howard Hunt, whom she married on December 22, 1961 in Albert Lea at Grace Lutheran Church. After they married, Ellen and Howard moved to Escondido, CA while Howard was serving in the U.S. Navy. They returned to Minnesota in 1964. Ellen went to work at Lincoln at Mann alternative school as a secretary for 28 years until her retirement. She loved to bake and for numerous years made baked goods to share with everyone at the Gift of Life Transplant House. She also kept busy as a designer for Festival of Trees for years, was an avid reader, an active member at Bethel Lutheran Church and stayed busy with her grandchildren. Ellen was a kind and compassionate lady with an upbeat and positive attitude. She is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, Howard; children, Kari (Steve) Hoffman of Cannon Falls, MN, Timothy (Teresa) Hunt of DeRidder, LA; grandchildren, Chelsea Hoffman, K. Erin Riley, David Riley, Megan Riley; great-grandchildren, Ella Hoffman and Denver Riley; sister, Carol Aske and many nieces and nephews. Ellen was preceded in death by her parents, and by her brother, John Grose. A memorial service celebrating Ellen's life will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, November 29, 2018 at Bethel Lutheran Church, 810 3rd Ave. SE, Rochester, MN 55904. Visitation will be held 4:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 28, 2018 at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Homes, 5421 Royal Place NW, Rochester, MN 55901 and one hour prior to the service at the church.
