Elizabeth 'Liz' Louise Laroque

Elizabeth Liz LaRoque, 50, of Rochester, MN died surrounded by family, friends and her dogs, on December 4, 2012 at Seasons Hospice after a hard fought struggle with CUP (carcinoma of unknown primary). Elizabeth Louise LaRoque was born on October 6, 1962 in Minneapolis, MN.She was received by her parents Dennis Jack LaRoque and Arleen (Salmi) LaRoque on October 10, 1962. Liz graduated from East High School in Duluth in 1980, Gustavus Adolphus in St. Peter in 1984, and William Mitchell College of Law in 1991.She moved to Rochester to work as Executive Director of Legal Assistance of Olmsted County, and in 2000, she joined the Olmsted County Attorney's Office as an Assistant County Attorney.In 2007, she received her Masters Degree in Public Administration from Hamline University.Liz continued to serve Legal Assistance of Olmsted County as a dedicated volunteer and board member until her recent illness. Liz loved her dogs, Sam and Pippin, who were her constant companions. She enjoyed the Arts, especially Broadway musicals, traveling, reading, and, most of all, her friends. Survivors include her parents, Dennis and Arleen LaRoque of Shoreview, MN; her brother, Jon (Andrea) LaRoque of Vadnais Heights, MN; four nieces, Emily, Sophie, Lily and Amy; one nephew, Nicholas; and many friends and colleagues.She was preceded in death by three infant sisters; and her grandparents, Elmer and Linda Salmi and Jack and Violet LaRoque. Memorial services for Liz LaRoque will be at 11:00 am on Saturday, December 15, 2012 at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Homes.Visitation will be from 9:00 am until service time at the funeral home.Lunch will follow.Burial of her cremated remains will be in Grand Rapids, MN at a later date.
