Elizabeth Hazel Horstmann, 87, of Rochester, passed away peacefully, Saturday, May 30, 2015. Elizabeth was born in Borup, MN on November 28, 1927 to Charles and Bertha (Bartholomew) Nei. She lived on a farm with her parents; 8 sisters, and 3 brothers, until moving to Pine Island, MN with her family. She was a graduate of Pine Island High School. Elizabeth was a member of the Girl Scouts of America and was an avid softball player. Elizabeth moved to Rochester where she was employed by the Kahler Hospital, Kmart and was a cook and waitress at various restaurants. Elizabeth worked at Eagle Drug Store, for Warren Williams for 30 some years, until she was forced to retire because of ill health. On May 16, 1958, Elizabeth married Lawrence Horstmann at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Rochester. Lawrence was employed at Franklin Heating Station. Elizabeth and Lawrence were long time members of Redeemer Lutheran Church. Elizabeth loved spending time with her grandchildren. Elizabeth is survived by her children, Donna Mae (John) Duffy of St. Paul, MN., Sandra Jean Libor of Lake City, MN., Alvin Lawrence (Jill) Horstmann of Rochester, Alicia Mae (Donald) Rora of South St. Paul, MN., Anita Jean (Cameron) Lide of Germantown, MD; 5 grandchildren, Christopher (Nicole Kast) Libor of Blaine, MN., Nicole (Thomas) Gnotke of Frontenac, MN., Ryan (Ashley) McDowell of Baltimore, MD., Darin Horstmann of Rochester, Lauren Horstmann of Rochester; 3 great-grandchildren, Emma, Carter and Tate Gnotke of Frontenac, MN; sisters, Loretta Maxon of Rochester, Margaret Nei of Pine Island and Verona Davis of Rochester. Elizabeth was preceded in death by her loving husband, Lawrence; son-in-law, Rick Libor; 3 brothers; 5 sisters and her parents. A funeral service will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday, June 3, 2015 at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 869 7th Ave. SE., Rochester. Visitation will be held 5:00-8:00 PM Tuesday, June 2, 2015 at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Homes, 5421 Royal Place NW., Rochester and one hour prior to the service at the church. The Rev. Dr. James Heining will be officiating with interment at St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery in Chatfield at 2:00 PM Wednesday, June 3, 2015. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Redeemer Lutheran Church or to the charity of donor's choice.
