KASSON -Elizabeth Betty M. Jorgenson, 90, died on Tuesday, April 9, 2013 at Fairview Care Center in Dodge Center. Betty Mae Benedix was born north of Mantorville, MN on March 12, 1923 to Cedric and Elsie (Van Tassel) Benedix.She had two sisters Dorothy (Benedix) Trapp and Sally (Benedix) Quakenbush and one brother, Frederick Benedix.Betty attended rural schools and graduated from the Mantorville High School in 1940.She loved music and played several instruments throughout her high school years.Betty worked in the Dodge Center Bank from 1941-1944 and then as an accounting officer for the Welfare Department of Dodge County in the Mantorville Court House from 1944-1952. Betty married Lawrence Jorgenson on June 4, 1949 at the First Baptist Church in Kasson.They were married in a double wedding with Betty's sister Sally (Aubrey) Quakenbush. Betty and Lawrence resided on the farm east of Kasson until Betty moved to Fairview in June 2011.She loved being a farm wife and was always busy in her garden, cooking, knitting, and quilting. She was a very active member at the First Baptist Church including serving for over 60 years as a pianist and organist, and Sunday School Teacher.Lawrence and Betty enjoyed traveling to a cabin in Northern MN for a few weeks for many summers.They were able to spend several winters in Florida or Arizona.Betty enjoyed having friends and family over for coffee and treats and always had a joke for everyone. Betty is survived by two sons, Brian (Bonnie) Jorgenson, of Kasson, and Scott (Jerianne) Jorgenson, of Kasson; four grandchildren, Teresa (Todd Bahr), Jeremy Jorgenson, Nichole Jorgenson, and Lucas Jorgenson; two great grandchildren, Zephyr and Gavin Bahr. Betty is preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence, who died January 21, 2013; her parents; and her brother and two sisters. A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, April 13, 2013 at First Baptist Church, 304 4th Street NW, Kasson with Rev. John Todor officiating.Visitation will be from 4-7 P.M. on Friday, April 12, 2013 at First Baptist Church and also an hour prior to the service at the church.Interment will take place at Evergreen Cemetery.
