Elizabeth A. Firstbrook, age 92, of Rochester, died on Sunday, February 1, 2015 at Cottagewood Senior Communities. A memorial service will be at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 7, 2015, at Richfield United Methodist Church, 5835 Lyndale Avenue South, Minneapolis, MN 55419, with Pastor Art Miller officiating. The visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the church. Inurnment will be in Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis, MN at a later date. Memorials are preferred to the Alzheimer's Association Minnesota. Elizabeth Ann Grochow was born on August 27, 1922, in Gaylord, MN to Otto H. and Minnie I. (Goetsch) Grochow. She was baptized and confirmed at the Missouri Synod Lutheran Church in Gaylord. One May 31, 1940, Elizabeth graduated from Gaylord High School and attended teachers training school in Mankato. On February 7, 1946, she married Clinton F. Firstbrook Jr. at Mount Olive Lutheran Church in Minneapolis. She was a homemaker, great cook, and baker. At age 18, she was crowned Miss Gaylord in 1940. Elizabeth loved gardening, craft work, picture painting, and walking.She bowled and supported the MN sports teams. Elizabeth is survived by her sons, Rev. Clinton (Jaine) Firstbrook III of St. James, MN and Tim (Kim) Firstbrook of Rochester; grandchildren, Alicia (David) Firstbrook Stott, GySgt. Clinton (Kara) Firstbrook IV, Emma, Spencer, and Cullen Firstbrook; sisters, Rose Lentz of Arlington, MN and Fena Pribnow in Richfield, MN. Elizabeth was preceded in death by her husband, Clinton who died on January 27, 1976; sisters, Burnetta Frederichs and Doris Grochow.
