Eleanore Edith Yunghans

Eleanore Edith Yunghans was the fourth child and only daughter born to Charles Henry and Edith Emma (nee Zander) Kirchner in their home near Sargeant, MN on March 13, 1918. She was baptized at her home on April 21, 1918 by the Rev. C. A. Affeldt of St. Johns Lutheran Church, Sargeant and confirmed by the Rev. Rudolph F. Schroeder at Trinity Lutheran Church (WELS), Dexter, MN on May 15, 1932.Her confirmation passage was Hebrews 12: 2.She remained a faithful life-long member of the Lutheran ChurchMissouri Synod.She graduated from Austin (MN) High School, studied for a year at the Hamilton School of Business in Mason City, IA, and married Ernest Emil Yunghans in St. Johns Church on August 10, 1940, the Rev. C. F. Knauft officiating.She and Ernest had two children, Charles Ernest, born in Oak Park, IL on August 9, 1946 and Paul Arthur, born in Baltimore on September 16, 1949.Paul passed away in Indianapolis, IN on February 23, 1954.She was employed as a secretary at Mayer-Marx Furniture Company and Republic Steel Corporation in Cleveland, OH; Amertorp Torpedo Ordnance Corporation in Forest Park, IL; Army Finance, Fort Benjamin Harrison in Indianapolis, IN; North American Van Lines, Fort Wayne, IN; as Faculty Secretary, Concordia Senior College, Fort Wayne, IN; and as department secretary first to the Religion and then to the Music Departments, Wartburg College in Waverly, IA.She also tested vacuum tubes for General Electric Corporation in Indianapolis, IN.She was a supportive mother and remained the faithful wife of her husband, the Rev. Dr. Ernest Yunghans for over 60 years by the time he passed away, on May 9, 2001.She showed a strong faith in her Lord throughout her life, and a willingness to defend her faith before others, even college professors. Along with her son Paul, she was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers Arthur, Elmer and Herbert and their wives Doris, Thelma and Irene; her husband Ernest, her sisters-in-law Ruth and Dorothy and their husbands Rev. Dr. Robert Gussick and Louis Carr; nieces Joanne Johnson, Grace Sutherlin, Judith Dalager, Carol Felsch, Carol Schatz, Susan Carr Berilla; grandniece Michelle Boelter; and Dale Taylor, the husband of a surviving niece, Elaine.She is also survived by her elder son Charles, her cousin Jeanette Clayton, nieces Colleen Kvasnicka, Monica Fiduk, Carlene Schultz and Mary Lohrbach, and nephews Charles Kirchner, Arthur Kirchner, Herbert Kirchner, John Carr and Stephen Carr. A funeral service will be held on Monday, June 16, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church (222 6th Avenue SW Rochester, MN) with the Reverend Joel Haak officiating.Visitation will be held 2 hours prior to the service at the church.Burial will take place at St. Johns Lutheran Church cemetery in rural Sargeant, MN.
