Elaine Kathleen Eggers

Elaine Kathleen Eggers, 83, of Rochester, died on Saturday, May 11, 2019 at St. Mary's Hospital. Her Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, May 16, 2019 at Ascension Lutheran Church in Rochester at 11:00 a.m. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 15, 2019 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Homes and one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be at Grandview Memorial Gardens. Elaine was born on February 20, 1936 in Mabel, MN to Palmer and Sylvia (Kjos) Tollefson. Elaine attended Mabel Elementary School and graduated from Mabel High School in 1954. Elaine went on to attended Winona State University from 1954 to 1957. On September 13, 1957 Elaine married Leon Richard Eggers in Mabel, MN at the First Lutheran Church. Elaine and Leon resided in Arlington, Virginia until Leon was discharged from the Airforce. From there, they lived in Detroit Lakes, MN and Gwinner, North Dakota where Leon worked as a depot agent for the Northern Pacific Railroad until 1963. Elaine and Leon then resided in Plainview, MN until 1975. They then moved to Chatfield, MN where Leon was a city police officer while Elaine worked for AFC and Tuohy Furniture. During her time in Zumbrota, she worked for Mid America Dairymen. Leon accepted a position as a police officer for the City of Zumbrota, moving there in 1980. Elaine was a member of the Chatfield brass band and in 1980 joined the Zumbrota Community Band. Elaine was an Emergency Medical Technician for 25 years, serving the communities of Plainview, Chatfield, and Zumbrota on their respective ambulance services. She was also a CPR instructor from 1980-1998 in Zumbrota. Elaine is survived by six children; Cindy (Joel) Dekok of Stewartville, MN, Timothy (Cathy) Eggers of Spotsylvania, VA, Jeffrey (Hoang) Eggers of Rochester, MN, Paul (Deb) Eggers of Chatfield, MN, Philip (Kathy) Eggers of Sioux Falls, SD, Rhonda (Scot) Steenblock of Chatfield, MN, many grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren, Brothers; Carl (Mavis) Tollefson of Rochester, MN, Paul (Jan) Tollefson of Minnesota City, MN, Thomas (Denise) Tollefson of Chatfield, MN, sister; Phyllis Schneider of Rochester, MN.
