ROCHESTER:Edward (Ed) Schuck, 80, died peacefully at his home in Rochester on Tuesday, October 27, 2015 with family members by his side. Ed was born on January 29, 1935, to Earl and Myra (Larson) Schuck in Kasson. He lived in and around the Byron area for much of his life.Ed graduated from Byron High School in 1953.In 1957, he was drafted into the US Army and served as a telecommunications specialist in Panama until 1959.In 1960, Ed married Arona Hanson at Scheie Lutheran Church in Mabel.Ed and Arona made their home in Byron and lived there until moving to Rochester in 1995. Ed started his career with IBM in 1956 and worked there for 35 years before retiring in 1991.He was a member of the IBM Quarter Century Club and the Retirees Club. During the years he lived in Byron, Ed was active in Byron Little League Baseball and Football, a member of the Byron Jaycees and Lions Club.He was also involved in Sons of Norway, member of the Eagles Club, served on the Board of the Rochester Senior Center and served as an election judge.Ed spent many hours volunteering his time in church activities and at the Mayo Clinic. Ed will be remembered as a loving husband and father.He particularly enjoyed when his daughters and grandchildren came to visit.His love of sports continued as he watched his grandchildren playing sports or volunteering at their track and field day.He was also a member of Zumbro Lutheran Church. Ed is survived by his wife, Arona; his two daughters, Renee Koch of Freedom, WI and Sarah Burkhalter of Blaine; his sister, Elaine Lukes (Dale) of Glenville; three grandchildren, Josh Koch of Coon Rapids, Nicholas Burkhalter of Blaine and Ashley Burkhalter of Menomonie, WI.Ed is further survived by many nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his father, Earl and his mother, Myra. The family would like to thank the Mayo Clinic for their care through the years and especially Mayo Hospice and Dr. Horn for their compassionate care. There will be a funeral service at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, October 31, 2015 at Zumbro Lutheran Church with the reverend Vern Christopherson officiating.Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Friday, October 30, 2015 at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Homes and one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday.Burial will take place at Byron Cemetery. Military honors will be provided by Rochester American legion Post #92.
