Edward Garris, age 57 of Rochester passed away January 11, 2015.Born December 25, 1957 in Davenport, Iowa to Benjamin & Phelma (Ellis) Garris.He graduated from East High School in Waterloo, and then attended both Iowa Lakes and Valencia Community Colleges.He was a realtor for the past 26 years, most recently working with Edina Realty in Rochester.He also owned and operated Personal Protection MN for more than ten years.He was a federal firearms instructor and a Minnesota Certified Fireworks Operator.He was an avid dog lover and hunter which led to his longtime involvement in Pheasants Forever, where he served as past president.He also served as the past vice-president of the Pine Island White Pines Sportsmans Club. His love of music throughout his life involved him in several bands, most recently playing with the group County Road 3.He was very involved and passionate with Miracle Fields Athletics, among many other community and professional organizations over the years.He married Susan Koll in 1995, and she survives. Surviving with his wife are his four children: Anthony (Ashley Bennett), Jordan, Shelby, and Sophie and one granddaughter, Arianna,three brothers: Ron (Sharon) of Waterloo, IA, Ray (Shirley) of Washburn, IA and Bobby (Susan) of Orlando, FL. Along with many nieces and nephews, extended family and close friends.He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, and four nephews. A public visitation will be held 4-8 PM Friday, January 23, 2015 at Ranfranz & Vine funeral home, followed by a private family scripture service at 8 pm.In lieu of flowers memorials are appreciated to his family for his children's college education.
