Dwight Douglas Ronning, 68, of Wanamingo, MN passed January 17, 2020 at The Mayo Clinic, St. Marys Campus. Dwight was born November 7, 1951 in Minneapolis, MN to Gordon and Lillis (Halvorson) Ronning. Dwight worked as a chef for many years and went on to school to be an interior painter. He was a Vietnam veteran, proudly serving his country in the U.S. Army. He loved riding his Harley, one of many, and he saw a lot of the United States while riding. Dwight enjoyed frequent visits from friends and family and loved going to dinner and a movie. Dwight was a very active member at Rochester Assembly, and his church family was a big part of his life. Dwight was a fighter, showed extreme perseverance and was a man of his word, what he said, he did. Dwight is survived by his sister, Annie "Sis" Carey of Otter Tail, MN; brother, Mark "Harley" Ronning of Shakopee, MN; nephews, Chad Carey, Randy, Phillip and Patrick Ronning; special friend, Kathy Van De Walker; his beloved dog, Pugsley "my little man"; great nieces and great nephews; his church family and a host of other family and friends. Dwight was preceded in death by his wife, Darlene. A memorial service will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday, January 24, 2020 at Rochester Assembly, 4240 18th Ave. NW, Rochester, MN with Pastor Mike Stehr officiating. Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be held at a later date at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
