It is with deep sadness, we announce that Duane R. Dailey, 82, of Rochester, passed away suddenly on March 12, 2013 at home. Duane Robert Dailey was born in Illinois on July 7, 1930, son of Margaret (nee Ramskill) and Dr. Walter C. Dailey.He grew up in Grand Forks, ND, where he attended the University of North Dakota earning his degree in Education.He continued his education earning his Masters and Doctorate Specialists Degrees.Duane was selected to attend several National Science Foundation Summer Institute Programs.He was a science teacher at Central and Willow Creek Junior High Schools and was a track and field coach for years. Residing in Rochester for over 52 years, he and his wife, Phyllis (nee Schuler) raised their family (Kathleen and Robert), with summers spent on the road, exploring the wonders of the U.S. National Parks.Duane was an avid fisherman and enjoyed several fishing trips to Canada and Alaska where he always caught The Big One!He had numerous interests and hobbies with a great appreciation of nature (a Master Gardener) and the field of science. Duane is survived by his daughter, Kathleen, her husband Erik and his daughters, Jessica (Dan) Parisi and Julie (Dustin) White; four grandchildren; extended Dailey family; and dear friend, Mary Westrum and her family.He was preceded in death by his parents, Margaret and Dr. W.C. Dailey; wife, Phyllis Dailey; and son, Dr. Robert D. Dailey. We will remember Duane for his sharp wit, keen knowledge of facts, thoughtfulness, steadfast support and love. A memorial service will be held in June in Stillwater, MN. Memorials may be directed to the charity or service of your choice with the families sincere appreciation.
