ROCHESTER, MINN:Duane R. Landin, 87, died Monday, May 18, 2015 at Season's Hospice House in Rochester. Duane Robert Landin was born on January 9, 1928 in Warroad, MN to Mathias and Thyra (Erickson) Landin. He grew up on a dairy farm near Swift, MN, where he completed his elementary education. The family moved to Warroad, MN and Duane attended and graduated from Warroad High School. He served in the Navy during the Korean War and was assigned to work on board the USS Wasp as a First Class Petty Officer in Electronics. After his honorable discharge from the Navy, Duane attended the Milwaukee College of Engineering. He married Betty Bartlett on June 16, 1955 in Milwaukee, WI. He was a loving and devoted husband until her death on May 19, 1984. Together they had a son, Lynn Landin who was born August 21, 1956. Duane worked for General Electric and received the General Electric Fulcrum Award for Progress in Invention for his work on a device used to measure inspiratory and expiratory air volume. He later worked for Bear Automotive Service Equipment in Milwaukee, WI as a product engineer for 12 years and retired in 1986. Duane moved to Rochester, MN to be close to his son Lynn and his family. He met and married Teresita Concepcion from Marikina, Philippines on June 29, 2002. The couple continued to live in Rochester, MN. He enjoyed playing the piano and accordion. Duane also enjoyed fishing, gardening, ham radio, and boat building. Duane is survived by his wife Teresita Landin, Rochester, MN; a son Lynn (Carol) Landin, Marion, IA; his step children, Raymond Concepcion, Jersey City, NJ, Teresa (Arnold) Concepcion- Ferry, Jersey City, NJ, Leonardo Jr. (Marilou) Concepcion, Marikina City, PI, Maria Teri (Miles) Pheneger, Rochester, MN, Leonardo Donny Concepcion, Rochester, MN; his grandchildren Sarah (Mike) Baker, Brian Landin, Ashley Pheneger, Rochester, MN, Michael Ferry, Rochester, MN, Katrina Concepcion, Marikina City, PI; a sister Marian Hillmann, Glendora, CA, a brother Alan (Nancy) Landin, Brainerd, MN; and several nieces and nephews. Duane was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Betty, and a brother Leonard. A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 22, 2015 at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Homes' Chapel. Visitation will be held one hour before the service at the funeral home. Burial will be in Grandview Memorial Gardens with Military Honors.
