Dr. Marc A. Shampo, 94, of Rochester, died Thursday April 25, 2019 at Mayo Clinic Hospital St. Mary's Campus. Marc was born October 20, 1924 in Green Bay, Wisconsin to Norman and Antoinette (Rondou) Shampo. He proudly served in the United States Army during WWII and graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison with a PHD in Organic Chemistry. He taught high school science in Wisconsin and was a chemistry professor at Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, PA. He then worked as a medical editor in publications at Mayo Clinic until his retirement. He was an author, avid reader, stamp collector, and football fan. Marc is survived by his daughter, Terry (Lanny) Nelson of Forest Lake, MN; step sons, Chuck (Marlene) Mayhew of Kellogg, MN, Scott (Kathy) Mayhew of Rochester; and two step son in laws, Bert Kyek, and Mike Capelle both of Rochester. He is also survived by twelve grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild; and his brother, Bruce Shampo of Green Bay, WI. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Norma; second wife, Lila; son, Marc; and step daughters, Nancy Kyek and Barb Capelle. A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 30, 2019 at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Homes. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Grandview Memorial Gardens with Military Honors provided by Rochester American Legion Post #92.
