A memorial service for Dr. Eastwood G. Turlington will be held on Saturday, May 18 at 4:00 p.m.in the Charter House Chapel, Rochester.Dr. Turlington, a Mayo Clinic oral maxillofacial surgeon, died on April 20, 2013 at the age of 83. Eastwood Gibbs Turlington was born on August 12, 1929 in Erwin, North Carolina. He received a B.S. degree from the University of North Carolina and graduated from the University of Maryland Dental School in 1954. He interned at the University of Maryland Hospital, Baltimore before serving in the United States Army.In 1957 he continued his training in the Mayo Graduate School of Medicine. He worked for Mayo as a consultant and Assistant Professor from 1961-1991.During his professional career he authored or co-authored numerous articles and served as President of the Midwestern Society of Oral Surgeons from 1974-1975. Eastwood married Suzanne McFarland on August 21, 1953 in Rochester, New York.He was a wonderful and generous husband, father, and grandfather who passed on his love of fly fishing, tennis, and reading to his children and grandchildren. He also loved woodworking, crossword puzzles, and classical music. He is survived by hiswife ,Suzanne; two children:Bruce Stuart (Marie), and Laura McFarland (Stephen) Waldman; and five grandchildren, Connor Waldman, Robert Turlington, Claire Waldman, David Turlington ,and Kevin Turlington. Eastwood is preceded in death by his parents, Stuart and Dora (Gibbs) Turlington, a sister, Thelma T. Wilson and two brothers, Carl and Harold Turlington.
