It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Douglas John Forsmark on November 30, 2023, following a brief and courageous battle against cancer. Born on December 18, 1952, Doug embraced life with quiet strength, friendship, love, a thirst for knowledge, avid reading, and unwavering loyalty to his beloved Minnesota sports teams.
Doug was a beloved friend, uncle, and cousin who touched the lives of many with his kindness, courageousness, and witty sense of humor.
Doug was born in Hennepin, Minnesota, spent his childhood in Minneapolis, and later moved with his family to Rochester, Minnesota.
Survived by his nephew Brian (Linda), niece Kristin (Chris), cousins Karen(Rick), Kathy, and Tina, along with many cherished great nieces and nephews, and close friend Guy, Doug's impact on his family was immeasurable. He is preceded in death by his parents, Clyde and Violet, sister Diane, numerous aunts, uncles, and grandparents.
The family expresses heartfelt gratitude to the exceptional nurses, support staff, and the medical team at Lake City Nursing Home and the Mayo Clinic for their unwavering compassion during Doug's final days.
A private memorial service to celebrate the life of Douglas Forsmark will be held at a later date, with burial at Oakwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to the Mayo Clinic for Encephalitis and Hospice care be made in memory of Douglas J. Forsmark. Mayo Clinic
