Dorothy Ann Vagt, 80, of Rochester, was called home on January 7, 2017 at Cottagewood Senior Communities. Dorothy was born December 15, 1936 in Olmsted County to Rudy and Clara (Bakken) Strain. On September 5, 1970 she married Kenneth Vagt. She enjoyed baking, eating, going to casinos, dancing, Nascar, and Dots candy. Dorothy loved the outdoors, animals and country music. She was a strong, dedicated, loving, patient and funny woman. Dorothy was very family oriented and loved her husband, children and grandchildren more than anything. Dorothy is survived by her loving husband of 46 years, Kenneth Vagt; children, Charles (Ginny) Burt of Byron, Rosemary (Mikel) Fields of Hayfield, Mary (Rich) Freytag of Rochester, Marvin (Christie Brown) Burt of Byron, Donna (John) Ackman of Rochester, Thomas (Brenda Panaro) Burt of Hope Sound, FL, Tammy (David) Arndorfer of Bloomington; 20 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren and 7 great, great-grandchildren. Dorothy is also survived by her siblings, Charlotte (Greg) Schmidt of Rochester, Shirley Schmidt of Rochester, Bonnie (David) Boyson of Walker, MN, Jerry (Diane) Strain of Rochester, Donald (Sharon) Strain of Spooner, WI, Lavonne Bacon of Oronoco and numerous nieces and nephews. Dorothy was preceded in death by her daughter, Marilyn Gallie; granddaughter, Angela Ann; grandson, Christopher Kenneth and her parents. Dorothys family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Cottagewood for their kind and compassionate care. A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 11, 2017 at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Homes, 5421 Royal Place NW. Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service.
