Doris Miller, 93, of Rochester, passed away on Saturday, May 20, 2017 at Seasons Hospice. Doris Marvel Jensen Miller, daughter of Johannes (John) Jensen and Anna Larsen Jensen was born September 25, 1923 on the family farm near Rutland, Iowa. She attended country school through the 8th grade and graduated from Rutland High School in 1941. After high school she moved to Des Moines, Iowa with her parents and worked at Meridith Publishing Company and the Lutheran Hospital. When her fianc, Bob Miller, left for service overseas she moved to Lincoln, Nebraska to work in a defense plant wiring and soldering radios for the Air Force. She worked there until Bob was released after being a prisoner of war in Germany during WWII. On July 28th, 1945 she married Robert (Bob) Miller at the Methodist Church in Rutland, Iowa. They started farming in Iowa after he was discharged and later bought a farm in Dodge Center, MN in 1956. Bob and Doris retired from farming and moved to town in 1988. They moved to Rochester in 2002. Doris was a homemaker who loved the outdoors and farming, helping in the fields and with the livestock. She spent many hours mowing and doing yard work which she loved. She enjoyed dancing to the big bands, playing cards, golfing, bowling, and snowmobiling. They spent 27 years wintering in Mesa, Arizona. Doris was a member of the Dodge Center United Methodist Church and a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. She was preceded in death by her parents John and Anna, an infant brother, three adult brothers Leonard, Les and Bert, three sisters Mabel, Evelyn and Hazel and her husband Robert (Bob) Miller. Doris is survived by her family who she loved dearly. Daughter Diane Miller (Rochester), Grandson Jesse Fritzinger (Rochester); 3 great grandchildren Evelynn, Draven and Talon. Memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 24, 2017 at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Homes Chapel 5421 Royal Place NW Rochester, MN. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at Ranfranz and Vine. Inurnment will be held at Riverside Cemetery in Dodge Center, MN.
