ROCHESTER: MN, Doris A. King, 88, passed away peacefully Wednesday, December 19, 2012 at Sunrise Cottages in Rochester, MN. Doris was born December 14, 1924 in Grant County, MN to Ole and Amanda (Mattson) Strom. She spent many years in Miltona, MN before moving to Alexandria, where she worked as a waitress and bartender at the Alexandria VFW. Doris was very community oriented and volunteered 30 years helping others in her community through Rainbow Riders and was a member of the Womens Auxiliary of the Miltona VFW. She moved to Sunrise Cottages in Rochester in 2004, where she was truly loved by the staff and assistants. Doris enjoyed gardening, fishing and she was a wonderful cook. She had a wonderful sense of humor and she loved to dance and felt laughter was the best medicine. She will truly be missed by her family and friends. Doris is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, L. Gary (Gail Hennings) King of Yorktown, VA; grandchildren, Devon M. King and his wife Teresa of Yorktown, VA, Ms. London M. King of Brooklyn , NY; great-grandson, Christopher King of NC; nephew, Larry Torgrimson of Rochester; niece, Becky (Larry) Nelson of Ashby, MN and many other nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews, whom Doris loved and enjoyed. She was exceptionally close to her nephew Larry and his wife Diane before Diane's passing in 2011. Doris truly enjoyed their weekly visits. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ole and Amanda; sisters, Myrtle Anderson, Shirley Torgrimson and Marion Strom, and brothers, Gordon, DuWayne and Leon Strom.
