Funeral services for Donna Mae Risler will be held 1 PM Saturday, December 29, 2012 at Bethel Lutheran Church with visitation one hour prior to services at the church.Burial will follow at the St. Pauls Norwegian Lutheran Cemetery in Preston, MN.Donna passed away Wednesday, December 26, 2012 at Sunrise Cottages where she had resided the past four months. Donna Mae Boyer was born on June 19, 1934 in Preston, MN to Howard & Marie (Gjerness) Boyer.She was a graduate of Lanesboro High School in 1952.After school she worked at Zumbro Cafeteria, Schwann's Ice Cream, Ward's and was a waitress at Wong's Restaurant.On July 21, 1956 she married Harold J. Risler in Decorah, IA. During their marriage they lived in Green Bay and Milwaukee, Wis where Donna worked as a secretary at a Finance Company and as a church secretary.They returned to Rochester in 1990. Her husband, Harold, preceded her in death December 5, 1998. She enjoyed knitting, crafts, flowers, working crossword puzzles, and spending time with her family and friends.Donna is survived by her daughter: Diane Risler of Rochester, two grandchildren: Joe Praski and Marisia (Mike) Young, and one great grandson, Eli Young.Also surviving are two stepchildren: Joyce Colby and Joe Risler both of Osseo, WI and a special adoptive son, Zbigniew Polikowski of Racine, WI; two brothers: Phillip Boyer (Bonnie Finley) of Rochester and Willis Boyer (Marilyn) of Winona, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband. Donna will be remembered for her sense of humor, loyal friendship, and especially, for her warm and loving spirit..
